DuraFence Composite

Premium Composite Privacy Fencing for Metro Vancouver

DuraFence is part of the DuraBoard Composites line — our private brand of premium composite building materials for the Pacific Northwest climate.

What Makes DuraFence Different

Most composite fences look the same online. The difference is in the construction. DuraFence uses capped composite — a polymer shell wrapped around the wood-plastic core — which significantly outperforms cheaper uncapped products in moisture resistance, scratch resistance, color retention, and lifespan.

Built for the West Coast

  • Will not rot, warp, crack, or decay in wet coastal climates
  • UV-stabilized capped composite resists fading
  • Water-resistant formulation with DuPont coupling agent
  • Resists mold, mildew, and insect damage
  • Powder-coated aluminum hardware engineered for coastal air

Designed for Long-Term Value

  • Material designed to last 30+ years under normal conditions
  • Routine care is water and a soft brush — no staining, sanding, or painting
  • Higher upfront cost than wood, lower lifetime cost

Available in Three Colors and Two Surface Finishes

Choose Oak (warm wood grain), Smoke Gray (modern neutral), or Black (bold contemporary). Both Aurora (capped wood-grain) and Brush (textured) finishes are available across colors.

Three Colors. Two Finishes. Endless Combinations.

DuraFence is offered in three colors and two surface finishes, giving you six distinct looks to match your home’s architecture and your personal style.

Color Options

Cedar

A warm, traditional wood-grain tone. The closest aesthetic to natural cedar without the maintenance. Best for traditional homes, country properties, and warm landscape palettes.

Smoke Gray

A modern, neutral grey that complements contemporary architecture. Pairs well with white trim, natural stone, and minimalist landscaping. Our most popular color for new builds.

Black

Bold and contemporary. Maximum visual privacy. Pairs especially well with cedar accents, modern landscaping, and homes with dark window frames. Slightly warmer in summer sun than lighter colors.

Surface Finish Options

Aurora — Capped Wood Grain

An ultra-realistic wood grain texture with a polymer cap for premium protection. The most popular finish for residential applications where the look of natural wood matters most. Available in all three colors.

Brush — Lightly Textured

A subtler textured finish with a smoother profile. A more contemporary look, often chosen for modern architecture and commercial installations. Available in all three colors.

Want to See It in Person?

Screen colors vary from the actual product, especially for Smoke Gray and Black. We recommend booking an appointment with our team about your project and seeing our samples in person at our Surrey showroom.

Mix and Match

Many homeowners combine colors strategically — for example, Smoke Gray panels with Black posts and caps for a contrasting modern look, or Oak panels with matching Oak gates for warm continuity. Our team can help you visualize the combination during a free consultation.

Usage Limitations

DuraFence is designed as a privacy and decorative fence system. It is not a load-bearing structure. Do not use as a support column, pillar, or beam. Do not climb on panels or hang heavy objects from the fence. These uses void the warranty and create safety hazards.

Installation

DuraFence supports two installation methods, both designed for standard carpentry tools and skills.

Installation Time

Project Size

DIY (2 people)

Professional Install

60 ft (small)

1–2 weekends

1–2 days

80 ft (typical)

2–3 weekends

2–3 days

120 ft (large)

3–4 weekends

3–4 days

Method 1: Concrete Pour Installation

Standard for ground installations. Dig a 300mm diameter × 600mm deep hole (deeper for soft soil). Set the post, pour C25-grade concrete, and verify plumb in all four directions before the concrete sets. Allow 24–48 hours for concrete to cure before installing boards.

Method 2: Steel Base Installation

For installations on existing concrete patios, slabs, or hardscaping. Anchor a steel base to the concrete using stainless steel expansion bolts. Slide the aluminum post over the base. No digging or pouring required.

Tools You’ll Need

  • Circular saw or mitre saw with carbide-tipped blade
  • Power drill with bit set
  • 4-foot level
  • Tape measure
  • String line and stakes
  • Post-hole digger or auger (for concrete pour method)
  • Wheelbarrow and concrete mixer (for concrete pour method)
  • Hammer drill with masonry bit (for steel base method)
  • Safety glasses, gloves, work boots

DIY or Professional?

DuraFence is designed for capable DIY installation. That said, professional installation is recommended in three situations:

  1. Sloped or uneven terrain requiring stepped installation
  2. Projects over 100 linear feet
  3. Projects with multiple gates or corners

Professional installation also ensures warranty compliance on installation requirements (proper post depth, expansion gaps, fastener torque). We can connect you with certified DuraFence installers in Metro Vancouver. Call (604) 765-3589.

Limited Warranty

Residential Use

Commercial Use

25 years

10 years

What’s Covered

  • Material manufacturing defects
  • Cracking, splintering, delamination, or rot from normal weather exposure
  • Structural damage from termites or insects
  • Substantial color fading beyond normal weathering

What’s Not Covered

  • Damage from improper installation or failure to follow installation instructions
  • Storm damage (high winds, hail, falling trees, snow load beyond design)
  • Physical impact damage from vehicles, equipment, or animals
  • Vandalism, intentional damage, or misuse (climbing, hanging heavy objects)
  • Normal weathering and gradual color change from sun exposure
  • Damage discovered more than 30 days before claim is reported

Material Lifespan vs. Warranty Period

Important distinction: the 25-year warranty is our financial commitment to replace defective product. The composite material itself is engineered to last 30+ years under normal conditions when properly installed and maintained. Many composite installations continue performing well beyond the warranty period.
